September 15, 2026 at 7:00 PM

Bloomfield Township Fire Department Meeting Room

Meeting Started at 7:15 PM – Quorum Met

Introductions & Welcome – President and Vice President  Jon Adler/Teresa Roscoe

Finance Report – Regina Schardt

            20K put into a certificate of deposit

            2026 Dues – 99% have paid Maintenance Dues, 68.9% have paid Social dues

            Finances in good standing

Secretary Report - - Jean Fay

            2027 Directories will be published in November 2026

                             To place an ad in the directory, notify Jean by October 1, 2026.

            Landscape Updates      

                        Trees trimmed in center of Kingsmill and Raven entrances

                             Plantings replaced that were struggling

                        Benches added to Raven Court

Hospitality Updates – Lisa Katzman

            10 New Family Visits in the past few months – able to deliver a directory, flowers and welcome committee

            If you know of a new neighbor moving in – please let Lisa know

            Facebook – Reminder to be added to our Facebook page (Neighbors of Kirkwood Bloomfield Twp. MI) you must be visited by the hospitality committee.    This is due to the amount of spam requests that are received daily.  

Communications – VACANT POSITION

            Our previous communications lead, Lenden Crosby, has moved and we are looking for a replacement – The duties include maintaining our website (www.Kirkwoodsub.com).    This is not a time consuming position so please consider accepting this role.

Deeds and Restrictions – Bill Fay

              If you plan to expand your home's footprint, you must obtain Kirkwood Board approval. Contact Bill Fay at wmcfay@gmail.com. Bloomfield Township requires subdivision approval before issuing a permit. Most property improvements are approved.

            Reminder – Fences are prohibited except when required by state law for pools.  Sheds and out buildings are prohibited

            Generators require a Bloomfield Twp permit and depending upon the location may require a zoning township variance.  .    Recommendation to get on the Bloomfield Twp agenda as soon as you get your estimate and drawings

Social – Kirkwood Socal committee – Lauren Zakalik

            Combination Halloween/Block Party scheduled for October 26, 2026 in  Raven Court

                        Food Trucks, Face Painting, lots of fun!    Add it to your calendar!

            It was brought up to have food trucks in the neighborhood again – the social committee will consider a couple occasions a year

Lake Association – Thom Burns

            Previous culvert issue has been resolved

            Lots of algae in the lake – ASK to use a lake approved fertilizer to your lawns.  

            Dealing with geese issues

Guest Speaker – Mike McCready – Bloomfield Twp Supervisor

              Discussed the serious risks of underage children operating electric motorcycles, e-bikes, and scooters on roads.

                        6 month Moratorium enacted 9/14/26 – under the age of 16 on township owned property and rights of way with the jurisdiction of the township:

                        Riders aged 16 years and older with a valid drivers license are permitted to use e-bikes -  Please refer to the Bloomfield Twp website for complete details

                        Refer to Michigan law-fo moto bike (no pedals)

                        The electronic vehicle’s have been involved in some series accidents in the township,

His ask – drivers slow down – take a moment before proceeding thru a green light – if you witness violations to the ordinance please call the police department

            Deer Management  - Bloomfield Twp has a committee reviewing how to manage the deer population in the area.   Next meeting at the township is September 28, 2026 to discuss solutions.

            The township has been working with various utility companies – DTE is planning on trimming trees in the Kirkwood subdivision over the next year.    AT&T has been having discussions to add cell towers to improve service – Priority Waste – working on improvements – if you have an issue please report your issue to the township.   One of the issues in dealing with the utility companies is the turn over of employees and having to re- begin discussions about the issues.  

            Open House of Bloomfield Twp on  September 27, 2026 – 11A – 3 P

            Toxic Waste Day – October 2, 2026

 Visit the Senior Center (age 50+)  Mike was asking for suggestions to improve the use of the facility   

            Speed of cars on Sutters Lane – The police will increase coverage after 5 PM weekdays.  Police Chief has also scheduled a speed trailer to be set up.  

President Updates – Teresa Roscoe

            Ordinance concerns – if a complaint is submitted to the board – we will review and if it appears accurate we will forward to the township.   This supports anonymity for neighbors if that is of concern.   Neighbors can submit a concern directly to the Township.   Code enforcement has been very responsive in following up with homeowners or residents regarding potential violations

              Ordinance reminder: Trash cans must be stored out of public view. Boats, trailers, RVs, and storage pods may not remain in driveways for extended periods.

            Fireworks are only permitted on/around designated holidays in concurrence with state law
